What We Do – Vermont Foundation of Recovery

The Vermont Foundation of Recovery (VFOR) offers both recovery homes and transitional apartments statewide, creating an avenue where our members can start their recovery in a structured, supportive environment and prepare for independent living. Our safe, affordable recovery homes are designed to help members establish healthy habits and build stability with the guidance and support of a community that understands their goals.

VFOR currently has 10 certified recovery homes throughout Vermont, located in Essex Junction, St. Albans, St. Johnsbury, Barre, Rutland, Morrisville, and Bennington. Click on our locations below to learn more.

Recovery Homes

Barre (Women)

The Barre House is the first of its kind in VT, housing women and women with children. The inside is beautiful, being newly remodeled with eight bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms.

Bennington (Women)

The Frederick Squire House, located in the heart of Bennington, is a historic Queen Anne-style property built in 1887 and listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Essex Men, Unit 1, is a four bedroom, two full bathroom home. Two of the bedrooms are singles and two are doubles, for a total occupancy of six.

Essex Men Unit 2 is a four bedroom, two full bathroom home. Two of the bedrooms are singles and two are doubles, for a total occupancy of six.

Essex (Women) Unit 1

Essex Women Unit 2 is a four bedroom, two full bathroom home. Two of the bedrooms are singles and two are doubles, for a total occupancy of six.

Morrisville (Women)

Morrisville is a four bedroom, two full and one ½ bathroom, home in a residential neighborhood. Two of the bedrooms are singles and two are doubles, for a total occupancy of six. Rutland is a six bedroom, five bathroom home in a residential neighborhood. Five of the bedrooms are singles and one is a double, for a total occupancy of seven.

St. Albans (Men)

St. Albans is a four bedroom, two bathroom, home in a residential neighborhood. Two of the bedrooms are singles and two are doubles, for a total occupancy of six.

St. Johnsbury (Men)

St. Johnsbury is a four bedroom, two bathroom, home in a residential neighborhood. Two of the bedrooms are singles and two are doubles, for a total occupancy of six.

What I Needed Was A Place That Let Me Have The Freedom To Work, Make Friends, And Learn How To Be Sober And Enjoy Life While Also Holding Me Responsible. I Was Expected To Build A Relationship With A Sponsor, Get And Hold A Job, And Attend Meetings. I Have Started To Acquire The Skills Needed To Deal With Life Without Having To Turn To A Drink Or A Drug. The VFOR Program Has Taught Me How To Balance An Active, Fulfilling Life With Sobriety.
